Competing from 1979 through 1982, he rewrote the school’s offensive record books through an extraordinary combination of finishing ability, vision, and consistency.
His 162 career goals remain the all-time program record decades after his collegiate career concluded. His 1981 season remains one of the finest individual campaigns in NCAA history, during which he scored 62 goals and recorded 98 total points, both UMass single-season records. He finished his collegiate career with 94 assists and 256 total points.
Academically, Weller excelled alongside his athletic achievements, graduating cum laude from the University of Massachusetts and later completing his master’s degree. He was inducted into the UMass Athletic Hall of Fame in 2013.
